When choosing the ITU-SUNY Civil Engineering dual diploma program, I knew that this program was a big opportunity for me. I knew and trusted the reputation of Istanbul Technical University, but it was also the opportunity to receive my education and get to know a different culture in the U.S. that attracted my interest. Moreover, ITU is a leading university in Turkey, while the civil engineering program at the University at Buffalo is among the best in America: it was an easy decision to enroll in this program.
By the time I graduated, I was a top scoring student in my department with a 3.97 GPA, and the second top scoring student among the entire 2012 ITU graduates (salutatorian). I was on the Dean’s honor list and graduated with highest honor (Summa cum laude) at the University at Buffalo.
Thanks to the contributions of both universities, all my master degree program applications were accepted in the U.S. After doing my research and receiving suggestions from my professors in Turkey and the US, I decided to study at the University of Texas at Austin, which is in the top three, according to the US News and World Report rankings. My next plan is to pursue my doctorate degree.
I want to thank Istanbul Technical University, the University at Buffalo and especially Prof. Christine Human, our program coordinator at the University at Buffalo, who always supported me!
