My name is Türkan Koçyiğit. I am currently a graduate student at the University at Albany, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, pursuing a Master of International Affairs with a concentration in Global and Homeland Security as part of the 4+1 combined degree program. I completed my undergraduate degree in Political Science (with a concentration in Global Politics and a minor in Economics) in May 2025, and I expect to complete my master’s degree in May 2026.
During my studies, I gained professional experience in several public sector and policy-related roles. I worked as a Constituent Services & Communications Fellow at the New York State Assembly in the Office of Assemblymember Gabriella Romero and previously interned with the NYS Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic & Asian Legislative Caucus, where I supported legislative research, communications, and community outreach.
At the University at Albany, I also worked as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Government and Community Relations and served as an Orientation Assistant in the International Student and Scholar Services Office.
The SUNY - Dokuz Eylül University dual diploma program provided me with valuable academic and professional opportunities and helped me gain an international perspective while developing my interests in public policy and international affairs.
