Ecegül Somay, Business Administration, SUNY New Paltz-İTÜ'17
After completing my high school education at TAKEV in İzmir, I had two choices; I would either go to Germany to study or I would stay in Turkey and study at one of the universities here. While we were doing our preferences with my friends, ITU-SUNY Business Administration department caught my eye and I said, why not? There were things which impressed me such as receiving two diplomas from two different universities at the end of four years and having the opportunities of studying and working in different countries. After a long indecisive period, I chose ITU-SUNY Business Administration Program and this preference was one of the greatest things that ever happened to me.
During my university education, I had the chance of experiencing many things in the classes. First of all, I had the opportunity to get closely acquainted with different diciplines, their lifestyle and their culture and I could compare them. I met many people who came from different countries like me and I travelled across the States with them. However, what is more important for me is to get out of my comfort zone to study. Trying to do something on my own in a different country and standing on my feet taught me a lot. It also helped to define my limits and realize my own potential.
When I look back today, I am happy I graduated from this program which constructed my identity, provided me a different point of view towards life, made me create a vision and brought me maturity in every sense.
