Ahmet Borazan, Global and International Affairs, Binghamton University - METU

I graduated from the METU- Binghamton University dual degree program in Global and International Affairs in 2011 and I have been enjoying the benefits of my undergraduate studies since then.

Having a bachelor’s degree from one of the best universities both in Turkey and the United States has a variety of advantages. First, at both universities, students have the opportunity to receive lectures from distinguished scholars.  This gives you the feeling of “catching the wave” of the discipline, which is quite dynamic. In his article, “International Relations: Still an American Science?”, a well-known IR professor, Steve Smith, underlines the survey results of Kal Hosti, which indicates that 74.1 percent of literature has been produced by scholars from the USA. In my opinion, this rate alone is telling us much about the importance of America for the field of Political Science and International Relations. I also feel it demonstrates the significance of English language education.

When beginning studies at METU, students either start learning English or improve their English skills in well-programmed preparation classes. Moreover, they achieve excellence in daily and academic usage of English after their years at Binghamton, because studying in an English speaking country is the best way for improving English language ability. Finally, the high quality of education and priceless experiences of studying and living abroad not only strengthens self-confidence, but also attracts attention from co-workers and supervisors.

If you are a university candidate in Turkey and if you are interested in the fields of History, Politics and International Relations, the dual diploma program in Global and International Affairs is offering you an opportunity for an excellent education.
