University program selection days were more important for me than the university entrance exams because I was aware that if I selected the wrong programs, my life would be affected forever. By not choosing the right programs, I would miss the chance of entering a university and be required to take the exams again.
I checked all programs and the universities in detail, reading all advantages they offered. After long searches, I came to a conclusion that the dual diploma program that SUNY and Turkish universities offer are the most advantageous. I was going to be able to study both in New York and Istanbul and earn two diplomas, so I made my choice.
The Civil Engineering dual diploma program offered by University at Buffalo and ITU was my first choice and I enrolled at this program. I found more than I expected after I began studying in this program. In the U.S., I secured a temporary job on campus. With this job, I earned my daily pocket-money and improved my language skills. I also had the opportunity to meet with some business people in the U.S. and I am still in touch with them. Learning about American culture and business helped me to gain many different experiences.
I am now working as a Research Assistant at Erciyes University. Thanks to this program, I never had difficulty in English during my academic career. I want to thank to all my teachers at SUNY and ITU for providing me with many opportunities.
