I graduated from the ITU - (SUNY) Binghamton University dual diploma program in Information Systems Engineering. The day I started college feels like it was yesterday. I remember the first time I decided to choose this program with my family. I can see more clearly that this decision is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Both choosing Information Systems Engineering program and receiving two diplomas, one from Turkey and another from abroad, within the scope of dual diploma programs have changed my life. For me, it was highly enjoyable and amazing. I can tell that I received quality education from the best schools both in Turkey and the USA.
The education process and the two-year time I spent in US have provided me a lot in terms of acquiring vision and language. It has also allowed me to make many different friends from different cultures and to build very good friendships. Especially, your entourage and your friendships you build during your college life teach you a lot about real life.
Apart from these, studying abroad and living away from your family and your environment in a completely different environment contribute greatly to your personality beyond meeting different people and getting different point of views. It also gives you courage and a strong sense of self confidence. I realize the effects of such a university experience in my own personality much more clearly, especially after graduation and after starting work.
If you can improve yourself during this process and take the advantage of your education, you may have the opportunity to start working at world-wide known companies. Even before I graduated I was invited to job interviews at big companies in the world both in Turkey and in the US. After a month since my graduation, I started to work at IBM in Turkey, one of the biggest IT companies in the world. My current position is exactly where I dreamed 5 years ago, and I'm doing a job that I love and I started doing it in a company that I really wanted. I give my thanks to SUNY dual diploma programs and I strongly recommend it to all my younger friends
