I graduated in the 2024 academic year from the TESOL program within the double diploma program offered in collaboration with Anadolu University and SUNY Cortland. I completed my second and third-year courses at SUNY Cortland, and I can say that these were the most beautiful, intense, and craziest two years of my life.
Since the department I studied in focuses on language, it did not limit me to a purely language-based education; rather, it deeply allowed me to feel the interaction between language and culture, as well as how culture affects language, and enabled me to experience how many factors influence language. Of course, my observational approach played a key role in gaining these experiences. While observing, unlike many people in terms of cultural perspective, I paid more attention to the similarities between our society and American society, rather than the differences. This made it easier to empathize and was very beneficial for building interpersonal relationships. I was always met with a warm and sincere approach.
In addition, during my two years in America, despite the vastness of the state’s landscape, I managed to travel all over New York, and then fit in trips to Florida, California, and the Midwest. The two years I spent were the shortest and fastest two years of my life. I believe that nothing should be waited for and that there is always much to be done. If you're still waiting, you might be late.
